Late Blooming

Late Blooming is the solo project by Brooklyn based rogue flutist and music producer Rose Rutledge. An eclectic blend of electro-pop, experimental instrumental and ambient ethereal worlds, Late Blooming explores the pieces of us that grow slowly. With lush vocal loops and flute choirs "flutescapes" Rutledge frames playful and nostalgic storytelling building mesmerizing performances and soundtracks. Late Blooming EP (released Oct 2024) is the debut eponymous work of Late Blooming the artist. The work explores and celebrates growth in all it's forms. In a world that celebrates the early success of prodigies, spins up industries delivering youthfulness, and fixates on 30 under 30 lists (where’s our 80 over 80?), it’s easy to glaze over the pieces of us that bloom late in life, much less honor them. Late Blooming is an introspective musical exploration of the artist’s own slow seeds, a mourning of branches that never grew, a celebration of those that bloomed and a hopefulness of the buds yet to come.
