An underground electronic artist.
Leonardo Arneis Metz is an electronic musician from Tuscania, a small village in the Alta Tuscia region, where he has long cultivated and developed his sonic research. In 2022, he founded Malditerra Records, a label through which he promotes a sonic narrative of marginal provinces via electronic experimentation. He is currently the curator of Hyperacustica, a multidisciplinary platform based in Rome, dedicated to post-club events and music releases. His practice explores the materiality of sound within the digital realm, developing a personal synthesis between elements of the acoustic landscape and sharp, resonant deconstructions generated through sampling and granular synthesis. His approach to composition is emotional and visceral: an inner tension that takes shape through distortion, where skeletal rhythms and dissonant melodies emerge like spontaneous, living entities. At the root of his research lies a pressing need to traverse and investigate the barriers—physical, cultural, and social—that mark the rural areas of Alta Tuscia. In these territories, he explores contradictions, fractures, and transformations. His aim is to build a critical and contemporary sonic documentation of these marginal spaces through releases, installations, and live performances.
