Louise Alexandra is a Boston-grown, Utrecht-based jazz singer-songwriter with a storyteller’s heart and a scientist’s mind. By day she works in cancer research, developing novel immunotherapies; by night (or any other time, really), she brings warmth, connection, and truth to song...moving easily between jazz standards and original music. Her debut album Destiny (2012) introduced her as a distinctive new voice, praised by All About Jazz as “plush and adult… grown-up music for grownups,” with lyrics described as coming from “a heart informing the head, one that is cerebral as it is organically creative.” Her second album, Today (2020), blends original compositions with a few reimagined standards, marked by lyrical intimacy, rhythmic variety, and a personal twist on the tradition. Both albums were co-produced by the legendary jazz vocalist Rebecca Parris, whose musical spirit continues to resonate in Louise’s work. Now based in the Netherlands, Louise is completing her third album, Crazy World of Love, slated for release in spring 2026. The project brings together originals, vocalese, and fresh interpretations of some of her favorite jazz tunes, created with musicians from the Dutch and international jazz scenes. Her songs explore love, time, memory, and connection—music that feels both deeply personal and universally human. Whether singing or researching, Louise is driven by curiosity and connection.
