A nostalgic romanian folk act from the local scene.
MA RA MU is a Romanian musical collective that seamlessly blends the rich traditions of Maramureș folk music with contemporary arrangements. Founded in 2021, the group's mission is to preserve and revitalize ancient carols and folk songs by presenting them in a modern context. The name "MA RA MU" is inspired by the traditional Maramureșian greeting, symbolizing a return to roots and a celebration of heritage. Their music is characterized by minimalist arrangements and vocal harmonies that evoke the sacred and mystical elements of ancient traditions. They often incorporate natural sounds, to enhance the authenticity in their performances. MA RA MU's discography includes two EPs of carols, "Bun gând I" and "Bun gând II," the single "Cât îi Maramureșu," and the collaborative collection "Feel The Earth Together" with Ma Ra Mi. Their latest release, "Domnu’ Sfânt", was drawn from Romanian folklore music, bringing a unique blend of tradition and authenticity.
