An underground, homegrown jazz artist.
Imagine if Radiohead's frontman Thom Yorke had piano lessons with Bach and Brad Mehldau, and then improvised over Minimal Music with Pharoah Sanders - that’s one of the many ways you could describe Martin Zamorano’s music. Zamorano, a jazz pianist and composer born in Madrid in 1995, stands out for his variegated musical journey and genre-fluid approach that sets him apart in the industry. With a distinctive blend of influences, his compositions are characterised by intricate polyphony, robust rhythms, and organic melodies, forming the foundation of a musical language driven by the pursuit of transcendence, integrity, and a spiritual home. Embodying the diversity of the 21st century, Zamorano's journey began as a classically trained pianist. After relocating to Hamburg, he studied composition, music theory, jazz and production in the Hochschule Für Musik und Theater, where he honed his skills as a pianist, keyboarder and improviser. In the young music scene of Hamburg and North Germany, Zamorano showcased his versatility through various projects, ranging from the young pop band FiNDiNG CLEO, where he plays keys to venturing into the avant-garde world of free improvisation with the band WARMBLUETIG and other collaborations with Barry Guy, Moritz Baumgärtner, Will Guthrie or Vlatko Kucan.
Martín Zamorano plays contemporary jazz and avant-garde music, blending classical piano techniques, minimal music structures, and free improvisation.
