Mask Appeal sprung unexpectedly to life in the summer of 2024, when a spontaneous jam session birthed an instant, fully formed band that effortlessly channeled flavors of The Stranglers, Contortions, PIL, Birthday Party, Bow Wow Wow and Bauhaus. The chthonic eruption of Mike Shelbourn’s (Gestapo Khazi, Jail Weddings, Street Trash) jungle drums and slithery snarl of Dan Graziano’s (Gestapo Khazi, Frontier Club, Neighborhood Brats) bass proved to be natural soul mates with Dante White Aliano’s (Starlite Desperation, Oozelles, Detroit Cobras, Dante Vs Zombies) tortured guitar mutations and crooning tales of undying devotion to the unattainable. From that first encounter, this incendiary amalgam channeled fully formed tunes from the void itself at a vertiginous pace that culminated in their brand new 5 song EP, suitably adorned with the hand painted art of their fairy god-sister, Gitane Demone (Christian Death).
