Listening to Devi Mambouka, the artist known as Masma Dream World, is bearing witness to a personal journey through hell and back. With her debut album Play at Night she tapped into those experiences, molding her pain and trauma into music. Her past informs and feeds the sound of her present. Inspired by her training in the Japanese spirit-led performance art of butoh, the album is a theta-wave meditation encompassing multiple cultures and languages. This past October, Devi shared her first Masma Dream World single since her 2020 debut, the thunderous and ceremonial track "Ancient DNA," along with the album title track single, "PLEASE COME TO ME." "Pordeno Me" and O, Dark Mother by Masma Dream World out NOW. The new album is out on Valley of Search, the experimental label run by Nabil Ayers. PLEASE COME TO ME beacons you to come into the darkness, inviting you into Devi Mambouka’s personal abyss. It’s music you hear in the middle of the night, happening upon a ritual already in progress, music meant to put you in a trance. Buy the Black vinyl + digital will be available everywhere A limited pressing of 100 copies will be pressed on red vinyl, hand-numbered and signed by Devi and available exclusively on Bandcamp.
