Floating between the 70s and that one nebula that looks like a seahorse, Bay Area keyboardist Max Cowan sifts through instrumental debris to make gliders for planets of unknown atmospheric composition. He co-leads East-Bay-meets-New-Orleans group Atta Kid, plays keyboards with futurefunk powerhouse Otis McDonald and has the honor of working with New Orleans drum pioneer Zigaboo Modeliste. Schooled by the bandstand and moved by the unity of groove, his solo work is an untethered quest for the B-sides of his mind.
