Maxim Vaga
"My pain is your pain, even though I am old and you are young" said an old man to the young troubadour, Newblues singer and pianist from Berlin, when he heard him performing in Paris. Maxim Vaga unites the contrasts. In his voice we hear anger and kindness, sadness and joy, all at the same time. Mysterious and free, broken and yet clear – his lyrics are of dreamlike complexity as they only hint at the stories that created them. Once driven by his love of film, Maxim Vaga worked in movie and theater productions. Meeting Patti Smith on the set of german director Christoph Schlingensief's The Animatograph marked a turnaround in his aspirations to study directing and moved him more towards his equal love, music. Shortly after, he embarked on a long journey through Greece, where he started to write and perform his own songs. This was followed by concerts in New York, Montreal, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Athens and his hometown Berlin, as well as joint concerts with Marlon Williams, Rhonda, L.A. Salami and Wyvern Lingo. Through a connection with The Strokes' "This Is It" producer Gordon Raphael and Lianne La Havas, he has begun a collaboration with two-time Grammy-nominated producer Dan Cox. Maxim Vaga has further intensified his collaboration with the acclaimed composer Petros Klampanis. Part of the resulting work is set for release in October 2024 in form of an EP called THIS LOVE.
