An underground, nostalgic indie pop artist.
Surrounded by the influence of 1950s and 60s pop culture and San Jose hard rock house shows, mayday mae! is a queer storyteller at heart. If you asked her, she would probably describe her sound as modern vintage-pop revival with a rock spirit. She tells tales of queer love, angst, fear, and desire-- all through the lens and grain of her Super8 film-esque visuals. mayday mae! invites you to come stay a while, and immerse yourself in the feeling of knowing that while this vintage landscape is enticingly beautiful, nothing is as it seems. mayday mae!'s new debut album, ‘MAYDAY! MAYDAY!’ conveys tales of lesbian pride, angst, and joy all wrapped in an energetic indie surf pop rock fashion, while paying homage to her San Jose DIY rock roots.
