An underground flamenco act.
The “Mediterranean Ensemble” project is the expression of interest towards the music that for centuries has accompanied those that we like to call the “Mediterranean People”. At a time when dialogue and contact between people has become particularly difficult due to the current socio-political situation, our curiosity towards the traditional and modern sound of the entire Mediterranean area, has made us feel part of a nation without clear boundaries, where music shows many ancient signs and stories, that once they’re all mixed together create the soundtrack of a new cultural identity. They crossed roads in a unique project that has become a bridge between classical and folk music, between eastern and western traditions. Thanks to the great success of their live performances after only few months of their project launch, they have been traveling around for many tours in both Italy as around Europe, performing in some of Europe’s most important venues. Their first album Shurhuq (Indijazzti Records) was launched 12th of May 2016 and offers several traditional tunes from Portugal, France, Italy, Greece, Macedonia and Turkey, the autobiographical story of their journey so far. The 2nd album "Accamora" has been released in 2017 on the 29th of September. The journey goes on, but focusing more on the South Italy traditions, mixing the typical sounds of the area with electronic, giving a "modern dress" to the most popular songs of the tradition.
