micelf is the indie rock project of Brooklyn (formerly Topanga Canyon) musician Ciara Sophia Rudas. micelf’s sophomore EP "For You" is as dumb as it is wise. The first single “Your Breath” invites the listener atop a plush bed of thick bass and tireless violins where micelf talks of ending it all with her lover over morning breath. “Your Breath” depicts the tired rider on the slopes of “Love." In the cycle of infatuation-turned-serious, “Your Breath” plays on repeat inside a mind plagued by indecision. The lines “It’s consequence and dissonance, I need a happy accident” request an outside force to intervene on her behalf. micelf’s EP “For You” reflects on the expectation socialized to her that love is something to lose yourself in. After many years of self sabotage via limerence, micelf now sees her clear pattern of love on a cycle: Infatuation, Regret, Separation, and a Reflection: that she’s just as lost as when she began. Each of the four navel-gazing tracks on her EP is a painful artifact from each stage. After paring down endless demos and landing on these four, she decoded their wisdom.
