Based in Los Angeles, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson is a multi-instrumentalist, arranger, composer, producer, conductor, and educator who has worked with countless artists and ensembles spanning many genres of music. He has contributed to hundreds of recordings and soundtracks, including albums by Ray Charles, Feist, Flying Lotus, Anderson .Paak, Mary J. Blige, Thundercat, Hiatus Kaiyote, Seu Jorge, Arthur Verocai, Moses Sumney, Lianne La Havas, and Bonobo. Atwood-Ferguson has backed such artists as Robert Glasper, Lady Gaga, Anderson .Paak, Henry Mancini, Christina Aguilera, Lana Del Rey, Daryl Hall & John Oates, and Rihanna on live TV for programs such as the Grammys, Conan O'Brien, The Disney Young Musicians Orchestra, American Idol, Jay Leno and The Tonight Show, MTV, and Jimmy Kimmel. In 2009 he composed and conducted Suite for Ma Dukes, an orchestral reimagining of the music of J Dilla for 60 musicians including Posdnuos (De La Soul), Talib Kweli, Karriem Riggins, Thundercat, Amp Fiddler, Shafiq Husayn, and Illa J. In 2023, after amassing more than 600 credits for writing, arranging, performing, producing, conducting, and more, Atwood-Ferguson released Les Jardins Mystiques, Vol. 1 in 2023, his debut solo album. Contributors to the project include Kamasi Washington, Thundercat, DOMi & JD BECK, Jeff Parker, Carlos Niño, Austin Peralta, Bennie Maupin, Gabe Noel, Jamael Dean, Jamire Williams, Burniss Earl Travis II, Deantoni Parks, Josh Johnson, and Marcus Gilmore.
