Mike Scott's career is entirely interwoven with his band The Waterboys but for two albums in the mid 1990s he worked under his own name. The first of these, Bring 'Em All In, was a true solo album on which Scott played every instrument. Its follow-up Still Burning, made with a crack team of session players - Jim Keltner, Pino Palladino and Chicago guitarist Chris Bruce - followed two years later. Both records recount Scott's spiritual experiences, the first intimately, the second with a rich, full soul/rock sound. Working under his own name didn't satisfy Scott and he reactivated the Waterboys concept beginning with 2000's A Rock in the Weary Land.
