Minz
A polished, mainstream alté artist.
Born and raised in Surulere, in the heart of Lagos, Minz is one of the most iconic voices emerging from the Nigerian music scene. The eclectic singer/producer/songwriter has defiantly and consistently built a universe for himself and his core fans by rebelling against the norms and not conforming to what is considered “industry standard” in the world of Afrobeats today. He describes his genre as “very wavy music with an underlying rhythm of Afrobeats” in lay man terms, Afro Fusion. His many influences range from the conscious protest music of the great FELA ANIKULAPO KUTI, to the futuristic sounds of Travis Scott, he’s also heavily influenced by RnB music and says Bryson Tiller inspired him to set up his own studio in his bedroom at the age of 22. Bridging the gap between what is considered “ALTÉ” and the mainstream, Minz has refused to be put in a box. With his degree in international law and diplomacy secured, he officially launched NSE (independent label) alongside his first official single; Talk in 2016 Minz has since released a plethora of sleeper hits and cult classics including “234”, “BDMN” and “Lady” and just recently scored a global hit with “WO WO” which features Blaqbonez and BNXN on its remix.
