Next show: Hamburg, Fri 13 Nov
An underground post-punk act.
Tracks3
monoslug. are a Hamburg post-punk duo built on contrasts. Since forming in 2023, Birgit and Sören have turned songwriting and sound experiments into a catchy, energetic sound – sharp guitars drenched in reverb and delay meeting warm synthesizers, melancholic vulnerability rubbing up against confidence and anger. At its centre are Birgit Welink's lyrics: feminist in stance, riot-grrrl in spirit and deadpan in tone, quoting the roles assigned to women and wearing them slightly wrong until their seams show. Their reach already stretches past their recordings – two monoslug. tracks feature in the NDR feature film "LORD". Playful, bold and liberating, it's post-punk that keeps tipping between melody and noise, structure and chaos.
