My Ruin

My Ruin are Tairrie B. Murphy — vocalist, lyricist, and trailblazer who began her career as hip-hop's first white female rapper on Eazy-E's Ruthless / Comptown Records via MCA before founding politically charged rap-metal band Manhole in 1993. Their seminal debut All Is Not Well (1996) helped define an era; the band later evolved into Tura Satana, releasing Relief Through Release in 1997. Tairrie launched My Ruin as a solo project in 1999, debuting with Speak & Destroy. In 2000 she met multi-instrumentalist and composer Mick Murphy — who became her creative and life partner — and My Ruin evolved from solo project to band on A Prayer Under Pressure of Violent Anguish that same year. Together they went on to record seven more studio albums: The Horror of Beauty, The Brutal Language, Throat Full of Heart, Ghosts and Good Stories, A Southern Revelation, and The Sacred Mood (2013). In 2026, after a decade away from metal, the powerhouse husband & wife duo returned with Declaration of Resistance — a ferocious anti-authoritarian protest album recorded at their home studio, The Magick Room, Knoxville, TN.
