An underground indie pop artist.
Raised in Yonkers, NY, Nailah Carrie is a singer-songwriter and poet whose genre-bending music can best be described as a blend of indie pop, neo-soul, and alternative R&B. As an introverted child she found solace in the world of music, writing her first song at just eight years old. She received her B.A. in Literary Arts from Brown University, where she further honed her craft as part of an acapella group, adding a unique, harmonic depth to her sound. Nailah's music is a reflection of her personal evolution – a beautiful blend of vulnerability, strength, and the enduring power of self-expression. Her debut single “Bad Girl” earned a PGM Club review that called her "remarkably bold and authentic." Her second single “Why Do You Stay” was featured by BUZZMUSIC in a review that called the song "one of the most emotionally disarming alt-R&B releases to come out of New York’s independent scene in a minute." Nailah performed an intimate, stripped-down rendition of "Why Do You Stay" at Brandy Melville's NYC studio, and released the recording on streaming platforms last spring. Her music has been featured on multiple listener playlists on Spotify including GRRRL Music’s “New Music Friday” playlist, Soul Era’s “Concrete Rose” playlist, and Fashionably Early’s “Fashionably Friday” playlist. She is both a member of GRAMMY U and a Sofar Sounds artist. In 2026 she opened for Livia Barrell at Berlin Under A. Nailah is currently based in NYC.
