Nymphéas Trombone Quartet
Named after Claude Monet’s iconic series, the Nymphéas Trombone Quartet was formed by Niels Jacobs, Wilco Kamminga, Arjan Linker, and Tim Ouwejan during their studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. The quartet's members, all in their twenties, are prominent figures in the Dutch music scene, holding permanent positions in the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and the Dutch Ballet Orchestra, while frequently collaborating with world-class ensembles like the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Netherlands Blazers Ensemble. A hallmark of the ensemble is their commitment to expanding the trombone repertoire through their own arrangements of existing works. This creative drive is further bolstered by quartet member Arjan Linker; an award-winning trombonist and composer, Linker regularly writes original compositions specifically for the quartet. The foundation of professional excellence and personal friendship allows the group to combine high technical virtuosity with a refined, cohesive sound inspired by French Impressionism.
