Odd Project emerged from the early metalcore scene in 2000 out of Orange County, California. After recording a series of demos, the band secured a multi-album deal with Indianola Records and headed to Zing Studios to record their debut full-length, The Second Hand Stopped. The release propelled Odd Project onto the road for an extensive run of shows across the US, culminating in a coveted main-stage slot at Hellfest 2004. The band was voted the "#1 Metal Band" on the now defunct MP3.com, they played with national acts such as Avenged Sevenfold, Atreyu, Killswitch Engage, and Norma Jean, and even appeared in magazines, such as Alternative Press , Metal Hammer, Revolver , and AMP. As the band continued to evolve, lineup changes led to speculation about a new identity. On December 17, 2006, it was announced via their official Myspace page they would be changing their name, though the name Odd Project ultimately remained. In late 2007, vocalist Michael “Jag” Jagmin departed to front A Skylit Drive, and Odd Project entered an extended hiatus. In early 2025, the original members announced they were writing new music. The comeback became official on September 25th, 2025 with the release of Arguing With the Richter Scale , a five-track EP that marked their return. They released an additional five-song EP KODA on June 30, 2026. More than two decades after their formation, Odd Project is back — reconnecting with their roots, moving forward on their own terms.
