Olivier longre is a French multi-instrumentalist and composer. He creates a subtle and intuitive music capable of conjuring up an infinite number of images: Olivier Longre makes music for the eyes. Combining both depth and lightness, the art of composition is for him a sensitive way to contemplate the world, to question memory, the imprint of things and their disappearance. For more than fifteen years, Olivier Longre has composed for films, choreographies, plays, and fictions for Radio France. His album Antique Melodies is a slow, timeless reverie through which he pays homage to his very first influences. Lettre à Jeanne is the musical story of an epistolary exchange from the 1900s that he discovered a century later. His new album Amore Disamore is loosely inspired by the novel Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino. Tecla, Procope, Trude, Armille, Argie, Isidora… the many cities imagined by the Italian writer, and which can only exist in dreams, questioning our modern cities and our visions of elsewhere. It is against the backdrop of these unpredictable and enigmatic cities that he has composed these nine tracks, sparingly mixing piano, percussion and wind instruments, and the smallest electronic presence. “I think I have written a kind of last love poem to cities, at a time where it becomes more and more difficult to experience them as cities [...] Invisible cities are a dream that is born in the heart of unliveable cities.” Italo Calvino
