Born in Valencia, Spain, pianist and composer PolFrank (Paula Berga) developed an intuitive, self-taught approach by ear alongside early classical training. After living in the United States, she returned to Spain and immersed herself in Valencia's jazz scene, collaborating with international musicians, including Berklee Valencia talent, to explore traditional music from China, India, and Arab cultures. This led to co-founding the Indian-fusion project Umpah!, a two-year venture focused on complex rhythmic structures. Continuing this path, the solo project PolFrank pairs intricate time signatures with captivating melodies. On stage, the band emphasizes a traditional jazz approach to collective improvisation, relying on a real-time musical conversation that makes each live performance unique. Drawing inspiration from artists and bands like Frank Zappa, Tigran Hamasyan, Vulfpeck, Shakti, or Nate Smith, PolFrank followed early independent singles with her debut album, Walking Myself Home, recorded alongside notable international musicians like Russ van den Berg, Tom Driessler, Tetyana Haraschuk, or Sara Dowling.
