An underground algerian chaabi artist.
🎻 RABIE HOUTI Singer, songwriter, and violinist Rabie Houti hails from Oran—the birthplace of Raï and modern Chaâbi music. Settling in Montpellier in 2014, he quickly made a name for himself through both his musical virtuosity and his warm human touch. PROJECTS & LIVE SCENE Backed by top-tier musicians from the Montpellier music scene, Le Rabie Houti Band blends Maghrebi rhythms and melodies with funky and rock grooves. The project fits right into the "Sono Mondiale" movement, once championed by the late Rachid Taha. Driven by his charisma and generosity on stage, Rabie has performed across France, Canada, Algeria, and Kazakhstan. Rabie also explores traditional Arab-Andalusian music with his project Zamen, and serves as a core member of Le Grand Bal Raï, a collective that reimagines Raï classics with a heavy dose of rock energy. Deeply involved in the local culture, he founded the Alandalus Festival in 2017, launching Montpellier's summer festival season. 💿 ALBUM: JOUDOUR Joudour is a journey between memory and modernity. Rooted in Rabie's Arab-Andalusian heritage, the album creates a dialogue between rock, Eastern textures, and Raï. At the heart of these encounters, his violin becomes a free, distinct voice—connecting stories, cultures, and influences. Joudour celebrates roots as a living heritage: not what holds us back, but what gives us the strength to move forward. “We don’t choose our roots. We choose what we do with them.”
