Rafa Müller (2000*) is a brazilian drummer and composer based in Hamburg. Born in the south of Brazil, in Porto Alegre, the young musician began having drum lessons as he was 3 years old, with Ricardo Arenhaldt. In the meantime he learned with Holger Nell, Edu Ribeiro, Vladyslav Sendecki, Kiko Freitas among others. The Brazilian drummer has lived in Hamburg since 2021 and is involved in numerous projects of the North German scene. His spiritual and meditative playing is inspired by drummers such as Joe Chambers, Nenê and Elvin Jones. He performed in many stages all over Brazil, UK (for example: Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival), Germany and Europe (for example: ELBJAZZ, Multiphonics Köln) and collaborated with many artists such as Danilo Caymmi, Ben Street, Toninho Horta, Nils Landgren, Florian Weber, Nailor Proveta, Hayden Chisolm, Gabriel Coburger, Tino Derado, Gary Campbell, Sophia Oster, Tiago Costa, André Marques, among others. His music can be heard in various constellations: Rafa Müller Quintet, Pouya Abdi Quartett, Sophia Oster Quartet, IVY MIND, Lucas Etcheverria Quintet, Achim Seifert Project, Timon Krämer's Duty Free, Takadoon and many others.
Rafa Müller plays contemporary and Brazilian jazz, blending intricate South American rhythmic traditions with European improvisational styles.
