Recliner is an American indie rock band from San Francisco, California. With a sound once described as “a well-dressed man holding a knife.” While you scratch your head on that one, know that others have compared them to Pixies, Wilco, Foo Fighters, Tom Petty, and even early David Bowie. As varied as that may sound, their origin story might explain it. The band was started in 2001 by four friends who'd decided it was time to mix it up a bit. Collectively ditching their primary instruments and picking up new ones, they threw their collective music geekery into the atmosphere and hit record. Since then, the band has released eight releases to critical and commercial DIY success. They’ve produced independent videos appearing on the likes of MTV and FUSE (remember music videos?). Over the years, their music has appeared on video game soundtracks and has been used in different TV series. The band release its latest, Meanders, in early 2025
