A nostalgic anti-folk artist.
Rising from the ashes of Madonnatron, Red Peril is the new endeavour of the London-based Italian-Mexican musician Stefania F. Cardenas. As co-founder, singer and guitarist of Madonnatron, Cardenas crafted the raw and dark atmospheres that characterised the band's sound. In Red Peril, she is conjuring behind drum machines and synthesisers, casting mystical spells reminiscent of Italo Disco and post-punk, with Dexter Krenal (PREGOBLIN, ex-Misty Miller) thickening the sonic waves with guitar and backing vocals. Her carnal and intimate narrations evoke the sultry imagery of post-war pulp magazines.
Red Peril crafts a "Dystopian Disco" sound, blending Italo Disco and post-punk with darkwave and synth-pop elements, often featuring a raw, electronic edge.
Red Peril is led by Stefania F. Cardenas, with Dexter Krenal contributing guitar and backing vocals, and other collaborators joining as "friends."
