A homegrown asakaa artist.
Born Reggie Osei, reggie is a Ghanaian drill artist and one of the pioneering voices behind the Asakaa movement, a music wave that put Kumasi’s vibrant street culture on the global map. As a core member of the Asakaa Boys, Reggie helped shape the sound and identity of Ghanaian drill by blending Chicago-style drill beats with local narratives, Twi slang, and unfiltered stories of hustle, loyalty, and love. With a sound that fuses raw energy and authenticity, Reggie’s music captures the pulse of a generation redefining African hip-hop. His verses move effortlessly between English and Twi, giving a unique Ghanaian flavor to the drill genre. Together with the Asakaa Boys, Reggie has earned national and international acclaim, contributing to award-winning tracks such as the “Hip-Hop Song of the Year” at both the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and the 3Music Awards. In 2025, Reggie continues to evolve artistically, with his EP Most High surpassing 10 million plays and his upcoming album CHRONICLES already generating major anticipation following its visual rollout. Bold, streetwise, and culturally grounded, Reggie Asakaa stands as a defining force in modern Ghanaian music and a voice for the next wave of African drill.
