Rival Waves blends alternative, grunge, indie, and permanent wave to create powerful anthems infused with a vibrant, punk intensity. Their sound combines the snarl of early Foo Fighters , the politically-charged lyricism of The Clash, & the indie distortion of Cloud Nothings. This cathartic energy & sharp lyricism connect art with audience on a deep emotional level. Originally a studio project by Joel De La Garza, 2018's 'Transducer' EP led to the formation of Rival Waves. De La Garza teamed with guitarists Marc Schulz & Erik Salinas to create a more collaborative & prolific band dynamic. With Paul Piñon on drums & David McLeod on bass, their sound evolved into a melodic, heartfelt, & electrifying signature. In 2019, they teamed up with Grammy-nominated producer Chris "Frenchie" Smith to craft their debut LP, 'A Meaningless Chaos.' Released in August 2023, this 11-track album captures the chaos of recent years. They followed up with 'The NAMI (EP)' in April 2024 and the 'Time's Up' single in June. Their latest release 'SLANT' is a raw, aggressive track with punk-laced sonics and a lyrical critique of bold-faced deceit amidst societal decay.
