Born and raised in Washington D.C., Rocky G is a Bay Area-based filmmaker, lyricist, and multi-instrumentalist whose interdisciplinary practice bridges the worlds of independent cinema and live musical performance. Since relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2013, Garcia has dedicated his career to exploring how rhythm, sound, and visual storytelling intersect to capture the complexities of the human experience. He attended San Francisco State University, where he earned his degree in Cinema Studies, a foundation that deeply informs the poetic visual composition and narrative structure of his directorial work. Simultaneously, Garcia has spent the last thirteen years establishing a formidable reputation as a professional rapper, saxophonist, and performer. In 2020, he released his critically acclaimed debut album, Filipinos in Space, solidifying his voice as a sharp, innovative storyteller within the independent music landscape. As a dynamic global performer, his music has taken him to stages across the world, including international performances and tours in Egypt and the Philippines, as well as major cultural hubs across the United States such as New York, Los Angeles, and Seattle.
