Russell Swallow is one of those lucky pre-Brexit kids who lived between London & Berlin prior to the UK leaving the EU. With a focus on confessional lyrics, & pairing live organic and programmed electronic sounds, Russell creates a refreshing synthesis of the classic British singer-songwriter tradition blended with ambient Berlin soundscapes; songs that range from hushed, prayer-like hymns, to soaring indie epics. Russell established himself as a solo artist in Berlin touring extensively throughout Europe, playing 200+ shows in seven countries in his first year, with festivals in London, Germany, Switzerland and France. He‘s been support for Kimberly Anne, Leddra Chapman and Kal Lavelle & performed at venues such as Kantine am Berghain (Berlin), Green Note & Union Chapel (London). Inspired by the likes of Ry-X, Jeff Buckley, Radiohead & Jon Martyn, Russell taught himself to write songs by blending his passion for poetry & short stories with his love of indie-driven sounds, whilst growing up in Suffolk, England. Russell is currently releasing remixes of his most recent EP ‘Body Like Braille’ (produced by Rhiannon Mair (Palm Bay Music) and mixed by Bruno Ellingham (Massive Attack, Spiritualized); and preparing to release his first self produced material. The record captures Russell’s haunting vocals, shimmering electric guitar & lush electronics. Photo/Artwork credits: 1: Gavin Hammond 2-6: Luita Lin 7-9: Gavin Hammond
