Johannes von Ballestrem

Johannes von Ballestrem is a German pianist living in Berlin. He is known for his diversity, being able to perform in a variety of traditional and modern jazz styles. With different bands he regularly performs in Germany and all over the world. He has shared the bandstand with jazz greats like Kurt Rosenwinkel, Greg Cohen, Norma Winstone, Eric Harland, Kurt Elling, Jim Black and Till Brönner. Ballestrem’s discography spans from chamber music and improvisation (with violinist Fabiana Striffler) to swinging jazz, from modern sounds (with SUN DEW) to deep dives into the universe of Brazilian music, most notably with Mariana Zwarg and Hermeto Pascoal.
