Seventeen hours driving through the Ural Mountains, karaoke nights in Tokyo, blown amps in Reading, and airplay on MTV: the story of Second Function feels like a road movie between chaos and determination. What drives the Swiss alternative rock band is more than music, it’s friendship, persistence, and the belief that consensus is often just a matter of taste. Their sound is powerful, road-tested, and always carries a wink toward the bizarre: apocalypse turned into a singalong anthem. Their latest single, “Urban Tribe,” was recorded with producer Luk Zimmermann (Lunik, Die Herbstzeitlosen). Earlier releases trace the band’s journey from Switzerland to productions in the UK and Germany, followed by new tracks released in 2023, 2024, and 2026. Live, Second Function built a strong reputation through appearances at Greenfield Festival, tours with Life of Agony, and support shows for Skindred, Biffy Clyro, Dog Eat Dog, and Twin Atlantic. In the studio, the band has collaborated with producers including John Mitchell, Flo Nowak, and Luk Zimmermann. What connects all these chapters is an uncompromising dedication to music and the determination to keep writing songs even in complete chaos.
