An underground latin pop artist.
Shanik Hughes is a Mexican-American singer-songwriter based in Austin, Texas. An official SXSW artist, her music fuses Latin soul, pop, and powerful storytelling. She began performing at age 3 in Mexico and has worked across TV, film, and theater, including roles on Univision’s Protagonistas, Corazón Valiente, and Rosario, as well as Broadway’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. After decades in entertainment, she launched her solo music career in 2021, releasing originals like Dile a mi amor, Hasta el Final, and her latest project Princesa Rebelde. Shanik has performed live across the U.S. and Mexico and studied at TVI Studios (LA), Broadway Dance Center (NYC), and CEA (Mexico). She is the host of Shine Your Light, a new bilingual podcast in English and Spanish dedicated to awakening consciousness, healing through music, and reclaiming personal freedom. Her art carries a message of self-love, faith, and inner resilience—connecting deeply with women, dreamers, and soulful rebels.
