shapesister
A homegrown, underground art rock act.
Tracks1
Featuring Mihai Costăchescu on bass and synths, Luca Călăraș on guitar, Nikita Dembinski on vocals and synths and Dru Popa on drums, shapesister is a Bucharest-based 4-piece, sitting somewhere between art rock and post-punk, with one foot in the nervous, angular world of bands like De Staat and IDLES, and the other in the softer, dreamier universe of bands like The National. Their songs can be tense, repetitive and abrasive, but can easily turn melodic and romantic. The quartet explores the ordinary and the everyday, steering clear of existential anxieties: bodies, appetite, shame, intimacy, childish cravings, bad habits, and the small things that end up taking over your day. shapesister EP is out October 2026.
