Sir Charles Jones
Sir Charles Jones is an artist whose part-throwback, part-modern style of R&B is based on traditional Southern soul and blues. The vocalist, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist calls himself the Undisputed King of Southern Soul. From Sir Charles Jones (2000) through Sir Charles Jones & the Family, Vol. 1 (2019), he has released his music independently, outside the major-label system. Born in Ohio, raised in Alabama, and later based in Georgia, Jones received early support from Marvin Sease and began his recording career in 2000 with a self-titled album. That and several of his subsequent releases, including 2002's Love Machine and 2008's My Story, have appeared on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Sir Charles Jones & the Family, Vol. 1, issued in 2019, capped his second full decade of recording and featured contributions from his children, Charlesia and Charles III. All along, Jones has been a busy touring musician with headlining gigs and appearances at soul and blues festivals. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
