An underground jazz ballads artist.
Critically acclaimed vocalist, composer, and arranger Sivan Arbel is a rising talent on the international jazz scene. Her music blends jazz with influences from her vibrant New York community and global travels. As a performer, Arbel captivates audiences with her rhythm, groove, scat improvisation, movement, and dance. Her upcoming release, Oneness (2024), continues her groundbreaking work, transforming jazz in unexpected directions and weaving together her decade-long journey in New York City. Arbel has performed at renowned festivals and venues, including the Montreal Jazz Festival, Lincoln Center, and Bratislava Jazz Days. At its core, Oneness offers a musical response to societal divisions, embracing differences and highlighting universal connections. Sivan’s curiosity for cultural exchange began at ‘Newe Shalom,’ a school where Muslims, Jews, and Christians studied together. This experience shaped her music and belief in equity. "As a kid, I knew my classmates came from different backgrounds. We learned each other’s holidays, songs, and food—it was part of my day-to-day. That experience resonates in my music. Normalizing equity brings beautiful flavors to everything we create." The album blossomed during a residency at Avaloch Farm Music Institute, where Sivan and her band cultivated their already distinct sound. Years of collaboration brought improvisation, rhythmic playfulness, and emotional depth to Oneness, a cohesive vision of unity through diversity.
Sivan Arbel performs contemporary vocal jazz and jazz ballads infused with global folk traditions and intricate vocal improvisation.
