In 2025 we were nominated for a Grammy. A Swedish Grammy, that is. We didn’t win. Which is to say that if you are on the hunt for the very best Swedish Hard Rock/Metal of 2025, look elsewhere; we are not it. Perhaps it’s because we are more of a heavy, fuzzy, sci-fi, stoner, doom type of band. Singing in Swedish about sci-fi adventures and monsters and worlds we created ourselves. Anyway, we have been doing this for 17 years now, starting out in 2009. Since then a lot has changed. And a lot hasn’t. We’re still the same people playing the same kind of music, feeling the same kind of love and joy when getting to perform that music. It’s just that the stages and crowds are a bit bigger. All of which feels like a healthy progression when having done what must be closing in on 1000 live shows. Shows that they themselves have progressed. We have gone from performing on floors in front of a single person, to opening for bands like Red Fang, Kylesa, Orange Goblin, Graveyard and Truckfighters, and playing at festivals like Desertfest, Stoned from the Underground, Sonic Whip, Höstsabbath, Sweden Rock and In Flames’ own Borgolm Brinner. Although regardless of what stage we are playing on and what band we are playing with, Skraeckoedlan has always been about doing it yourself. From the early days of organizing and booking our own shows, to recording and producing and mixing our own albums, to writing sci-fi novels and creating computer games based on those albums.
Skraeckoedlan plays heavy, fuzzy sci-fi stoner doom metal with psychedelic elements, often featuring lyrics in Swedish.
