Sohodolls' 'Bang Bang Bang Bang' became a viral hit during lockdown. The band has since released several new tracks as well as never-heard-before demos. The new singles receive consistent support from BBCR1's Nels Hylton and critical acclaim from Atwood Magazine, EQ Music and LoudWomen. They have also been added to significant rock, alt pop and pop playlists on Spotify. Sohodolls was founded by Maya von Doll in the noughties who moved to the UK from Lebanon during the civil war. She writes about love and war and vividly recalls being evacuated by helicopter from Beirut by the British Army when she was a child. Sohodolls' songs are featured in TV shows and films - Geek Girl, Gossip Girl, Nip/Tuck, The Vow, The Kardashians, Californication. ‘Stripper' was also chosen for Budweiser's Super Bowl commercials in 2013. The band’s first two singles, Prince Harry and Stripper caused enough of a stir to reach #7 and #12 in the UK indie charts. These were followed by the debut album release which was acclaimed by the NME. Well, if you can call 7/10 'acclaim'. Sohodolls have toured extensively through the UK, USA, Europe, Japan and South Korea. Most notable touring moments? Supporting Marilyn Manson in Tokyo and Daft Punk in London at the O2 Wireless Festival. Most hilarious? Hugh Heffner’s Playboy party in Moscow (before the world changed). Most enjoyable? The Big Issue’s 15th anniversary concert the Shepherds Bush Empire in London.
