Štěpánka Balcarová je trumpetistka, skladatelka a dirigentka. Stojí v čele jazzového big bandu Concept Art Orchestra, které je špičkovým tělesem, jehož repertoár tvoří téměř výhradně autorská tvorba šestice generačních souputníků sdružených kolem Štěpánky - "Pražská šestka". Dále vede česko-polský kvintet Inner Spaces nebo septet s polskou zpěvačkou Małgorzatou Hutek. S Inner Spaces za desku „Light Year” a s Concept Art Orchestra za desku „The Prague Six” získala Cenu Anděl v kategorii jazz. Je také organizátorkou jazzové skladatelské soutěže Karla Krautgartnera. Poslední album Emotions z roku 2023 nahrála se svým současným česko-polským kvartetem, Štepánka Balcarová Quartet. Štěpánka Balcarová is a trumpeter, composer and conductor. She is a member of the jazz big band Concept Art Orchestra, which is a progressive ensemble whose repertoire consists almost exclusively of original works by six generational companions associated with Štěpánka - the "Prague Six". She also leads the Czech-Polish quintet Inner Spaces or a septet with Polish singer Małgorzata Hutek. With Inner Spaces for the album "Light Year" and with Concept Art Orchestra for the album "The Prague Six", she won the Anděl Award in the jazz category. In addition to active playing and composing, she is also the organizer of the Karel Krautgartner jazz composition competition. She recorded her latest album Emotions in 2023 with her current Czech-Polish quartet, the Štěpánka Balcarová Quartet.
Štěpánka Balcarová plays contemporary jazz and avant-garde compositions, releasing notable albums through the Animal Music label.
