Steve Baker

London-born Steve Baker has long been regarded as one of the great harmonica players, with an impressive reputation as a performer, teacher, author and long term consultant to the Hohner company. After a lengthy career as a sideman, including an 11 year musical partnership with the late great Chris Jones, with whom he released four highly acclaimed albums on Acoustic Music Records, he began recording and performing his own songs in 2017 and has now released a total of three albums of original music on Timezone Records. He shed the role of accompanist for the first time with the solo album "Perfect Getaway", (2018), and its follow-up "The Great Divide" (2020), presenting his original compositions with conviction and intensity. His third solo album "Too Much Is Never Enough“, recorded with his new acoustic line-up, was released in August 2023. Steve’s songs incorporate elements of blues, country, folk, funk, rock and even reggae to create an intriguing synthesis of his own. Catchy and vibrant, they combine a melodic pop sensibility with thought-provoking, well-crafted lyrics, delivered with the energy and intensity that has always characterised his work.
