Studio, the Swedish musical project of Dan Lissvik  ( Atelje ), joined by Rasmus Hägg ( R Hägg ), created an underground stir with the projects debut full-length, West Coast (2006). Released in a 300 vinyl run on Studio's own label Information, West Coast became an Internet sensation, circulating widely on file-sharing networks and getting favorable blog write-ups. Bearing influences of Madchester, disco, experimental rock, afro-pop, krautrock and dub, the duo's music is partly reminiscent of early-'80s balearic movement and a precursor to the 2010s boom at the axis of electronic and psychedelic music. The album has been notably absent from most streaming services, and the internet’s record of its initial impact is all but fossilized from a bygone blog era, while its sound is simply untraceable to any one moment in music.
