Originally from Tokyo, Japan, Takuya Nakamura moved to the United States in 1990 to study under the legendary jazz theorist and composer George Russell at the New England Conservatory of Music. Under Russell’s tutelage, Nakamura honed his craft and developed a profound understanding of jazz theory and composition, which would become fundamental to his innovative approach to music. In 94' Nakamura moved to New York City, where he quickly became a staple in the vibrant Jazz and Jungle scene. His versatility as a musician and DJ allowed him to collaborate with an impressive array of artists across different genres. Takuya became of members of cult bands such as Jojo’s Mayer’s Nerve and Cocorosie. He has worked with legendary figures such as Quincy Jones, David Byrne, and Arto Lindsay, bringing his distinctive sound to numerous recordings and live performances. Takuya Nakamura continues to push the boundaries of music, with recent projects blending his deep jazz roots with cutting-edge electronic production. His dedication to his craft and his ability to transcend genres make him a true pioneer in contemporary music.
