A nostalgic, homegrown rock act.
The Compulsions are a New York City rock band known for their raw, unfiltered sound that fuses blues, punk, and classic rock influences. Founded by frontman Rob Carlyle, the band has become a staple of the underground rock scene with their no-nonsense approach to music. Carlyle's vision for The Compulsions was to create a band that embodied the spirit of classic rock, while rejecting the over-polished sound of modern rock. Their music draws heavily from legendary acts like The Rolling Stones, The New York Dolls, and Guns N' Roses. Over the years, Carlyle has collaborated with a range of highly respected rock musicians, each bringing their own pedigree and distinctive style to the mix. His past collaborators include Frank Ferrer, Richard Fortus, and Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal of Guns N' Roses; Sami Yaffa of Hanoi Rocks and New York Dolls; Brian Delaney, known for his work with New York Dolls and Melissa Etheridge; Alec Morton of Raging Slab; and Earl Slick, famed for his contributions to the music of David Bowie and John Lennon. The Compulsions’ discography includes Beat The Devil (2011), Dirty Fun (2015), and Ferocious (2020). Each release has been praised for its gritty authenticity, with standout tracks that showcase the band’s ability to blend bluesy riffs with punk energy. The band's high-energy shows and surprise appearances by rock royalty reflect their raw, boundary-pushing rock & roll ethos under Carlyle’s leadership.
