The Filthy Six
Arguably the most exciting, authentic soul jazz outfit in the UK today, The Filthy Six have long established themselves as one of the most electric live acts on the scene. Their soaring horns, blistering guitar and gut-wrenching organ are fuelled by one of the hardest grooving rhythm sections around, producing a hip-shakingly powerful mix of soul jazz, funk blues and latin boogaloo, with a modern take on the finest traditions of the Blue Note/Prestige sound. Led by Trumpeter Nick Etwell (Tom Jones/Beck/Jill Scott/David Axelrod), this band of musical gunslingers have worked with some of the biggest names in music: Amy Winehouse, The Foo Fighters, Mavis Staples, Mark Ronson, Ronnie Spector, Duran Duran, Jack White, Dionne Warwick, Roger Daltrey, Madness, The Neville Brothers, Chrissie Hynde, Noel Gallagher, Disclosure, Mumford & Sons and Fred Wesley to name a few. Their last EP ‘Soho Filth’ (2021) received both acclaim and airplay from the UK scene’s most notable luminaries including Craig Charles, Cerys Mathews, Huey Morgan (BBC 6 Music); Jamie Cullum (BBC Radio 2); London based Jazz FM & Soho Radio as well as airplay across Europe, Australia and the US. 2025 saw ‘Prattle In Seattle’ synced for Channel 4's ‘Our Welsh Chapel Dream’ and ‘Down Frenchmen St’ hitting 2M+ plays here on Spotify. With new releases on the way for 2026 these instrumental groove merchants continue to fuse boundless energy and musicianship to create tight, funky music for the mind, body and soul.
