The Oxys

"The sound is wonderful — snotty and sleazy in all of the most delicious ways," as proclaimed by the LA Weekly. The Oxys were formed by Guitarist Jason “Ginchy” Kottwitz (Dead Boys, Sylvain Sylvain and The Sylvains) and vocalist Phil D. in 2021. They quickly realized they shared a potent songwriting chemistry along with a mutual love of late-1970s gutter rock, snot punk and a penchant for power pop. Immediately following the release of the first record, A Date With The Oxys (Dead Beat Records 2002)— of which Classic Rock Magazine (January 2023) declared “Every song sounds like an A Side” – Ginchy went on a writing binge. Phil filled in the blanks and put the finishing touches on the ones that caught his ear. Come January 1st, 2023, the band entered Ice Cream Studios with Matt Parmenter to track Date’s follow-up, Generation Irrelevant (Out 7/21/23 via Dead Beat Records). Ginchy immediately took the recordings to his home facility for their final mix. Famed mastering engineer Jack Butcher at Austin’s Enormous Door Studio and added the finishing touches. Since the time of the debut album, the band has added new members to sculpt the live show and future recordings. Onboarding drummer Chris Alaniz, guitarist Genocide, and bassist Michael Harpel, they immediately found themselves hitting the road with a major dose of pandemic vengeance. New music started to flow out of them like fine wine.
