A nostalgic indie rock act.
The Something Specials; a family band, a breakfast band, a sunset drive and kiss your momma & papa goodbye to hit the road kinda band. In 2023, longtime friends/tourmates and first time collaborators Nathan Slone (guitar/bass) and Josh Augustin (keys/drums) of Vansire began recording nostalgic instrumentals in their Brooklyn studio. In a lucky coincidence, Augustin met then LA-based vocalist Taylor Olin of Flour and Dust Fuss on the set of a Poolside music video they both appeared in. Her timeless singing proved to be a perfect fit on the 70s-imbued instrumentals. Demos followed quickly and a band was born. Living on opposite sides of the country from each other, they created each song through virtual connection bringing to life their twangy debut single Aces, released in Autumn of 2023. Followed by their sleeper hit Love which has been viewed on TikTok more than 2 billion times. 2024-2025 saw the band release several more singles, punctuated by a festival appearance in Olin’s native St. Augustine, Florida. Their debut album releases on August 14th, with a Brooklyn debut headlining show to follow in October!
