Tibetan Sky Burial

Based out of Austin Texas, Tibetan Sky Burial further obscures the boundary lines between extreme metal genres. In fusing together elements of atmospheric sludge, post-black, & melodic death-doom, their music broods in embalmed layers of haunted aggression made for mausoleum halls and celebrating the impermanence of life. Their debut album '@Lamenta' centers on grief laden lyrical concepts, giving reverence to the ancient funeral practice of Tibet. Founded in 2019 by Rick Fernandes (vocals/guitar) and Bryan Stevens (vocals/bass) they frequently crossed paths with Shane Wallin (@Empty Trail) and Rom Gov (@Black Satellite/@Matricide) at Evil Snail Studios. Eventually recruiting them, 2020 saw the release of '@Lamenta' and accolades from Decibel Magazine for their surreal music video '@Flesh Rot' shot by Cléver Cardaso (Krisiun/Black Angels). With ambiguity surrounding pandemic related dilemmas, premature departures of Bryan, Shane, and Healy Rosman (keys) ensued. Rick went on to collaborate with Roman Aridor (@Aaerials) for the single 'Yakruna' which led to Ed Chavez (@Venustra) joining officially. Redefining unfinished 'Lamenta' era songs with Ed, Kaye Paple (A Dark Halo) and Ric Garza (@Venustra) rounded out the new lineup. The band has opened for Ghostbath, Harakiri for the Sky, Unrequited, Illusion of Fate, Sparrows, and Bruka.
