Le saxophoniste et clarinettiste bruxellois Toine Thys est une figure centrale de la scène belge. Réputé pour son intensité et son aptitude à surprendre, il multiplie les projets audacieux, se produisant souvent là où on ne l'attend pas. En tant que leader, il dirige le quartet Orlando avec Teun Verbruggen, Florent Nisse et Maxime Sanchez (musique poétique et hypnotique). Leurs albums ont remporté l'Octave de la Musique en 2021 et le prix Découverte Jazzmag. Il codirige également le trio Ibiyewa avec le batteur béninois Angelo Moustapha et le guitariste Joel Rabesolo (rythmes africains et électro) et a tourné sur cinq continents avec le Toine Thys Trio à l'orgue Hammond (Sam Yahel, Hervé Samb, Karl Jannuska) __________ The Brussels-based saxophonist and bass clarinetist, Toine Thys, is a central figure on the Belgian scene. This intense musician is renowned for his ability to surprise, continuously launching bold projects often where he is least expected. As a leader, he directs the Orlando quartet with Teun Verbruggen, Florent Nisse, and Maxime Sanchez (hypnotic and poetic music). Their albums have won several major awards, including the Octave de la Musique in 2021 and the Découverte Jazzmag prize. He also co-directs the Ibiyewa trio with Beninese drummer Angelo Moustapha and guitarist Joel Rabesolo (African rhythms and electro) and has toured on five continents with the Toine Thys Trio on Hammond organ (Sam Yahel, Hervé Samb, Karl Jannuska).
