An underground world act.
Organic and joyful, Afro-Brazilian energised trio, Trinka reveal a mellow and life affirming glow on their debut 6 track EP. It features original lyrics from various lusophone writers including José Eduardo Agualusa from Angola, a mix of Afro-Brazilian rhythms, voice, synth and guitar, and was conceived and made in Lisbon. Dandara Modesto is a Brazilian singer and a spiritual practitioner of Candomble (a religion brought to Brazil from Africa by the enslaved populations), who now resides in Switzerland. Along with Portuguese writer and producer João Pires (Coladera) and Brazilian percussionist Juninho Ibituruna (Graveola, Tizumba), she is part of a brand new contemporary Brazilian trio called Trinka. With co-production from Stefan Merse Ulrich, a member of legendary German jazz-dance outfit, Jazzanova, Trinka have set sail, with Lisbon their anchor, drawing from Brazil’s black musical history with an-ever pulsing beat, from the gods. credits releases January 24, 2025 Trinka: Dandara Modesto - voice, synth Joâo Pires - guitars Juninho Ibituruna - percussions produced by Trinka. mixed & co-produced by Stefan Merse Urich. recorded by Gustavo Lagarto, Estúdio Camaleão, Raul Misturada. mastered by Kelly Hibbert / Almachrome. artwork by Agentur für Neue Sachlichkeit. cover photo by Aline Belfort
