A high-energy, underground sludge metal artist.
Urzah are a progressive sludge-metal band from Bristol, UK. Formed in 2020, Urzah combine the abrasive elements of sludge, doom, punk and post-hardcore with forward-looking songwriting, atmospheric post-metal passages and soaring melodies, inviting comparisons to Neurosis, DVNE, Mastodon, Russian Circles and Elder. Urzah’s unique brand of ‘Earthen Heaviness’ blends oppressive darkness with moments of transcendence and cosmic awe. This vision was refined across two self-released EPs, I and II, then fully realized on Urzah’s debut LP The Scorching Gaze, which was released to critical acclaim in 2024 by APF Records. On their highly anticipated 2026 follow-up, balancing brutality and heaviness with deeper explorations of space, dynamics and atmosphere, Urzah deliver an even more assured, mature and ambitious full-length with their sophomore effort: 'A Tranquil Void'. “Doom-infused progressive metal of the highest order. Somehow this quartet create a sound that’s so massive it feels like it has its own centre of gravity.” – Alex Baker, Kerrang! Radio
